🔧 Facilities & Equipment Team Member (Off-Site)

Part-time | Flexible Schedule | $18–$22/hour | Tiskilwa, IL

Use your hands-on skills to keep a regenerative farm running strong—without living on it.

👋 WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Hungry World Farm is seeking a skilled, reliable, no-nonsense team member to help maintain and improve our buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. You won’t be managing a program or living on the farm—you’ll be the go-to fixer who shows up, knocks out projects, communicates clearly, and moves on.

You might be:

  • A retired mechanic, contractor, or facilities manager looking for meaningful part-time work
  • A self-employed handyman looking to fill your schedule with regular jobs
  • A tradesperson who enjoys farm life but not farm hours
  • A rural neighbor who wants to contribute without taking on a big role

🌱 ABOUT HUNGRY WORLD FARM

Hungry World Farm is a 175-acre nonprofit regenerative farm in Tiskilwa, Illinois. Our mission is to heal the world through regenerative agriculture, reconnect people to land and food, and help guests experience what right relationship with creation looks like.

We welcome thousands of visitors annually—through farmstays, tours, workshops, and community events. Our land includes forest, prairie, silvopasture, and market garden systems—all integrated with food production, education, and restoration.

We’re not just growing food—we’re growing a movement rooted in stewardship, hospitality, diversity, and hope. We depend on good infrastructure to make all of that work—which is where you come in.

🛠️ YOUR ROLE

As a Facilities & Equipment Team Member, you’ll work with the Executive Director and other program leads to keep equipment running and infrastructure functional. You’ll likely come in a few days a week (depending on projects), work independently or alongside a team member, and report progress through simple communication channels (texts, notes, updates).

Core Tasks May Include:

  • Routine maintenance & minor repairs on farm vehicles and equipment
  • Groundskeeping (mowing, trimming, power washing)
  • Building repairs (gutters, doors, small carpentry)
  • Winterizing or seasonal maintenance (plumbing, snow clearing)
  • Organizing tool and equipment storage areas
  • Troubleshooting mechanical issues and recommending solutions
  • Coordinating with off-site service providers if advanced repairs are needed

Special Projects Might Include:

  • Fencing or water system installation
  • Small construction or remodeling work
  • Farmstay/campsite facility repairs
  • Supporting livestock or market garden infrastructure needs

You won’t be expected to attend community meetings, lead a team, or immerse yourself in farm programming—just show up, do the work well, and leave knowing you helped make something good happen.

Preferred:

  • Experience with tractors and small engines
  • Carpentry, plumbing, or electrical experience
  • Knowledge of regenerative farming (or interest in learning)
